ABOUT SPECIAL KIDS PLACE

The website will not only link users with resources and important information but will provide blogs where we can share our comments and the comments of others. Our vision is to inform and educate, not recommend. Our concept is that SPECIAL KIDS PLACE will be a place of interest for parents, grandparents, teachers and anyone who loves and works with special needs kids.

As you go through the website you will find a strong focus on alternative medicine and therapies. Though Colin is identified as having
Cerebral Palsy, his treatment is similar to some of the alternative therapies offered for children with other disabilities. For example, therapeutic horseback riding is one of the alternative therapies that Colin experiences weekly. Children suffering from Autism, Down syndrome, ADHD also may benefit from this type of therapy.

There are two pages set aside for blogs, as can be seen in the Site Map. The first is entitled Blogworthy, and is reserved for the ongoing story of our grandson. We will share our observations on the therapies, caregivers and products he has used during his difficult journey over the past six years. From time to time, we will feature blogs from his parents, teachers and therapists.

The second blogs page is entitled
Blogworldly and is reserved for articles and input from YOU. We invite you to share your experiences — Contact Us — and post links to other sources of information that might be helpful to users of SPECIAL KIDS PLACE. Tell us about your child. Tell us what worked for you. Tell us what didn’t work. If you are a professional, please tell us about your programs or services. Your additions will help the website to be a source of valuable and, wherever possible, timely information.

ABOUT COLIN
Colin is a wonderful little boy. He has a sweet personality and happily interacts with his family, caregivers, therapists and teachers. Colin’s laugh and his spirit will warm your heart. He is learning to crawl and can stand with support. Colin drinks from a cup and likes to eat though he has not yet mastered feeding himself; like any normal child, Colin does have his favorites, including anything chocolate. Speech still eludes Colin but he is beginning speech therapy and is learning to use enabling devices. His happiest times are bath time...anytime, hot tub time with Daddy and cuddling up with Mommy before he goes to sleep.
