Located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Frankie's World is the area's leading non-profit medical daycare center for children with special healthcare needs. They welcome children ages birth to 8 years of age who need skilled nursing care for medical reasons.
Named for a special girl in Philadelphia who touched many lives, Frankie's World is licensed by the state of Pennsylvania to care for medically or technologically-dependent children. The center is an exciting place, where kids can be kids! It has a large play area, opportunities for learning and socializing, and offers recreation, therapies and education. Frankie's World is a Headstart program location with a full-time educator onsite, and we are staffed by experienced pediatric nurses.
Costs can be completely covered through your medical insurance. They will work with your child's doctor and insurance company to help your child qualify. Therapeutic Living Centers for the Blind was started in 1975 by 8 parents whose grown children were affected not only with blindness, but with mental disabilities.
The organization has 11 homes housing 78 disabled adults who live relatively independent. In addition to the housing, the TLC has a day program with a computer lab, life skills classes, art, gardening, exercise, etc. for both children and adults with various recreational opportunities for them. It’s also a beginning intervention program for children from birth to five years of age.
General Eligibility Requirements: Eligibility for Early Intervention Program: Children are eligible based on their diagnosis of a visual impairment and a developmental disability or a child who is at risk for a developmental disability based on extreme prematurity or other identified risk factors.
Children's Afterschool Program Eligibility is based on child’s diagnosis of developmental disability and visual impairment. Funding may be made through assistance from Regional Center, Regional Center with family co-pay or solely through parent private pay depending on family need.
Geographic Area Served: San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys in the greater Los Angeles area.
